Balanced Chakra Energy: Maintain balance with continued healthy attitudes, behaviors, emotions and appropriate yoga postures, breathing practices and activities.
Unbalanced Chakra Energy: Examine the chakra’s lessons, rights, responsibilities and challenges to determine what areas need improvement and make suitable changes. Practice the breathing practices, yoga postures and other healing activities and healthy behaviors. Set an intention and enhance it with the musical notes, instruments and crystals. Practice self-care and get competent help from others as needed. In addition:
Excessive Chakra Energy: Use the chakra’s balancing color. Chant or sing the vowel sounds to send and release excess energy. “Too much of a good thing” is harmful so decrease behaviors that are excessive.
Deficient Chakra Energy: Use the chakra’s emanating color. Chant or sing the bija mantra sounds to increase and attract energy.
The Chakra Chart was originally published in Yoga Meditations: Timeless Mind-Body Practices by Julie Lusk.

Time: 15 minutes
Begin by treating yourself to an enjoyable and satisfying stretch. Go ahead, it’s time to loosen up and stretch so you can reclaim your energy. That’s right. Stretch all over.
And now, please allow your entire body to settle and relax comfortably . . . if your legs or arms are crossed, please uncross them and settle yourself into whatever you are sitting or lying on.
Take in a nice big breath …fill your lungs full…and breathe out to let go from deep inside… And now, simply follow your breath in…and out…allowing each breath to refresh you on many levels.
With your eyes closed or barely open, begin to shift your attention away from the world around you to your inner world of sensations and into your imagination. It will do you good.
Take a big breath in . . . And sigh it all the way out.
Let your imagination take you
Stop ~~ Look ~~ Listen
It’s the fall where I live and the trees are bright with color, the air is crisp and feels delightfully cool. Too bad I’ve been too busy to really notice it.
Luckily I came across a quote from Ferris Bueller. He says, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” Not only did that become the reading and theme for yoga class, it inspired me to take the afternoon off and enjoy the fall beauty.
Here’s a quote from Nathaniel Hawthorne who said “I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house.”
How about you? Have you been buzzing through life and missing out on what’s important? It will do you some real good to take some time out. It doesn’t even have to take much time. Remember, even a 5 minute break really helps.
Here’s a mini-meditation from my Mind-Body Mastery eBook that can be done anytime and anywhere. Your awareness will increase and it will settle your mind down and clear your head.
Stop – Look – Listen Mini-Meditation
- Stop – Notice your posture . . . breath . . . energy level . . . mood . . . mental activity.
