Julie’s Music History
Julie has loved exploring music since childhood. She babysat 5 boys when she was in 6th grade for 50 cents an hour to buy her first stereo.
Julie studied piano from elementary school through college. Crushed but undeterred, she was rejected from the choir in 5th grade. Recitals were a disaster with awful memories of freezing up like a statue. Even though her self-esteem hurt for decades, she never gave up. For years, she only played for her pets.
Julie started playing classical flute when the Lusks owned a music store. She began playing Native American flutes about 10 years ago. Julie also plays harmonium, Tibetan bowls, chimes, didgeridoo, drums, and the harp. Julie was a Drums for Fun member for 15 years.
Julie is Certified by the Sound Healing Academy (SHA) in the Foundations of Integral Sound Healing for Multi Instruments – Level 1. The course covered how to give individual and group sound healing sessions. It included how to play singing bowls, tuning forks, gongs, chimes, frame drum, and voice. Julie studied The Art of Creating Sound Healing Journeys With the Power of the 5 Elements, a 7-week course led by Bodhi Starwater/Setchko and Music Medicine, a 7-week course by Laura Inserra. She completed SHA’s 30-hour course in Integral Sound Healing with Tuning Forks in addition to John Beaulieu’s 4-week tuning fork course.

New Moon ~~ New Year Magic
Something rare is happening on January 1, 2014. There is a new moon on the first day of the year. What a powerful time for getting
a fresh, clean start. This doubles the significance in making resolutions and setting intentions for the coming month and year.
Here’s how to practice Yoga’s Salute to the Moon. It’s a posture sequence that gives strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. Why not try it now!
Every month, new beginnings are facilitated during the three days of the new moon. In her book, The Healing Power of the Sacred Women, Christine Page offers these ideas for getting the most from this potent time.
On the 1st day, take time, preferably at sunset, to sit and decide what stories, experiences, emotions and beliefs you are ready to release and what is complete (Purification). Before you finish with a story of experience, it is very important to ask: ‘What did I learn from the experience? What gems of wisdom can I collect? How have I grown consciously because of the experience?’ Place the gems of wisdom in your heart to be transformed into the light of consciousness.
You don’t need to list everything but could just fill a glass with water and surround the glass with your hands and ask that all emotions/ beliefs/stories which are no longer valuable to your soul, to enter the water. Then stand on the Earth and ask Mother Earth/ the Great Dragon to take these energies back into her waters so you may be purified. Then pour the water on the earth with gratitude and celebration.
On the 2nd day (anytime in the day) spend time [Read more…]

Turn obligations into energizers. Rituals and traditions that characterize our celebrations can stimulate spiritual reflection, excitement and wonder.
Even exciting tasks, repeated year after year, may turn into obligations. Creatively update tasks so they provide new energy. If anything conjures up an image of drudgery, try a new approach that can energize you.
Traditions can help us get through the difficult times when our feelings don’t quite match the occasion.
How are you updating your holiday traditions? Please let us know thru the comment box.
