New Moon ~~ New Year Magic
Something rare is happening on January 1, 2014. There is a new moon on the first day of the year. What a powerful time for getting a fresh, clean start. This doubles the significance in making resolutions and setting intentions for the coming month and year.
Here’s how to practice Yoga’s Salute to the Moon. It’s a posture sequence that gives strength, flexibility, coordination and balance. Why not try it now!
Every month, new beginnings are facilitated during the three days of the new moon. In her book, The Healing Power of the Sacred Women, Christine Page offers these ideas for getting the most from this potent time.
On the 1st day, take time, preferably at sunset, to sit and decide what stories, experiences, emotions and beliefs you are ready to release and what is complete (Purification). Before you finish with a story of experience, it is very important to ask: ‘What did I learn from the experience? What gems of wisdom can I collect? How have I grown consciously because of the experience?’ Place the gems of wisdom in your heart to be transformed into the light of consciousness.
You don’t need to list everything but could just fill a glass with water and surround the glass with your hands and ask that all emotions/ beliefs/stories which are no longer valuable to your soul, to enter the water. Then stand on the Earth and ask Mother Earth/ the Great Dragon to take these energies back into her waters so you may be purified. Then pour the water on the earth with gratitude and celebration.
On the 2nd day (anytime in the day) spend time in rest, pleasure, nurturing and quiet if possible. Rest in the heart of your soul, the Great Mother and all those who love you.
On the 3rd day (especially in the morning) meditate to raise your energies from the root chakra beneath your feet up to the crown chakra, with the serpent/dragon energy stimulating the pineal gland to produce DMT, transporting your consciousness into the multidimensional realms. Use humming to raise the energy. Offer your gems of wisdom collected from your stories. Be still in the ocean of possibilities. Ask to receive seeds of inspiration or dreams which you will manifest this month. As you gather the seeds into your body, sense your bodily and emotional sensations changing, letting you know how you will feel because of this manifestation. Returning to these feelings will keep you focused as you birth the seeds and nurture them to fruition. Write down the inspiration. Give thanks of celebration and then plant the seed.
Over the next few days nurture the seeds and then in time give birth to full manifestation allowing your masculine energy to take over the next part of the process which involves manifestation of the dream/ idea by the next full moon.
To complete; after the full moon – the waning moon- do not attempt to start new projects but collect the wisdom and gems from your experiences, finish things off and then prepare to go through the whole cycle again. It is probable that you may not complete the manifestation in one cycle so use the next dark moon phase as a time of refinement and commitment to the task.
Yoga’s Salute to the Moon is a great posture sequence that is good to practice any time of the month.
